Description

September 21st and 22nd 2022

Auditorium of the "Grande Galerie de l’Evolution"

10am - 5.30pm

Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle

36 Rue Geoffroy-Saint-Hilaire, 75005 Paris

From the living organisms to the beginning of your genomic analyses, whether meta-, phylo-, comparative or population genomics, there is molecular biology, sequencing techniques that generate the "reads" and finally bioinformatics.

Without the latter, no assembled genomes, no variants. Thanks to its cocktail of high-performance algorithms based on index structures and graphs, bioinformatics helps us day after day to push the limits of our genomic analyses. Yes, but very often, the recipe of the cocktail, the composition of its ingredients, the traps it contains remain opaque for the genomicist.

During these two days, we will discuss the different stages that dot the path from the exit of the sequencer (the reads) to the assembled genomes and their population variations. We will discuss developments from data acquisition to in silico analysis, their variations for specific problems and benefit from feedback from expert users. Everything you should have known a long time ago: an opportunity not to be missed.

Registration and talk submission

Registration is free but mandatory. The venue being limited to 120 participants, please register if you really think you will come. In case you have to cancel your registration, contact us so that we can register someone on waiting list.

If you want to give a talk (in english, 20  minutes with questions), click on "my submissions" and follow the steps. Applications are open until Sept 5th. You will be notified if your talk has been accepted on the 7th of September. The topics should relate to the assembly of high quality genomes or variant calling.

Finally, you are invited for a free lunch altogether at the self/restaurant of the museum both days. You will have to indicate if you will have lunch with us during the registration step so that we know how many meals we should anticipate.

See you soon!
